Opening song and prayer

Your Name on His Hands
4 minAsk the class to close their eyes while you call out each child's name one at a time. Tell them Heavenly Father knows every name in this room.
Write one child's name on your palm with a washable marker. Show your hand to the class. Isaiah said God has graven us upon the palms of His hands. That means our names are always before Him, like a mark that never rubs off.
Then hand out paper wings. Have children tape one to each arm and flap slowly, then faster. Isaiah said those who wait on the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles. Waiting on God does not mean sitting still forever. It means trusting Him while we keep trying.
- Did Heavenly Father forget anyone's name when I called them out?No. He knows each person in this room perfectly.
- What does it mean that your name is on God's hands?He always remembers us. We are never lost to Him.
- What happens when an eagle spreads its wings?It rises high and catches the wind. Isaiah used that picture for gaining strength from the Lord.
- When have you felt tired and needed help to keep going?Let children answer. A long week at school, a hard chore, feeling sad, or trying to be kind when it is difficult.
God gives strength to those who wait on Him
6 minIsaiah 40 was written to people who felt worn out. They thought maybe God had forgotten them. Isaiah said the opposite. God is everlasting. He never gets tired.
Then came the famous promise: they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. Waiting on God means trusting Him, praying, and not giving up.
- What does 'wait upon the Lord' mean for a kid?Pray, keep trying, trust Him, and do not quit when things are hard.
- Why did Isaiah compare us to eagles?Eagles rise high with strong wings. God helps us rise above problems that weigh us down.
- Does waiting on God mean doing nothing?No. It means we keep walking in faith while we trust Him to help us.
- What is one hard thing you are waiting on God to help you with?Let children answer. A family situation, a friendship, learning something new, or changing a habit.
The Lord leads us along
6 minIsaiah also wrote that God is like a shepherd who carries the lambs in His arms. When we feel small or lost, He gathers us close.
He does not just watch from far away. He leads us step by step, the way a parent walks beside a child on a hard path.
- How does a shepherd carry lambs?In his arms, close to his chest, where they are safe and warm.
- When might you need God to carry you?When we are sad, scared, sick, or too tired to walk alone spiritually.
- How can you let the Lord lead you this week?Pray, read scriptures, listen to parents and leaders, and follow the Spirit.
- Who can you comfort the way God comforts you?Let children answer. A sibling, a friend who is sad, or someone new at church.
Draw near to Heavenly Father (optional)
optionalIsaiah's people needed comfort because they had drifted away from God. Comfort comes when we turn back and draw near to Him.
Prayer, scripture study, and going to church are ways we move closer to the One whose hands bear our names.
- Why do we sometimes drift away from God?We get busy, forget to pray, or choose other things first.
- What is one way to draw nearer to God today?Let children answer. Say a prayer, read one verse, attend church, or serve someone.
- Will God turn us away if we try to come back?No. Isaiah's whole message is comfort. God wants us close to Him.
In the scriptures

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
- What three things does Isaiah say we will do with God's strength?Mount up like eagles, run without getting weary, and walk without fainting.
- Which part of that promise do you need most right now?Let children answer. Rising above a problem, energy for a busy week, or endurance for something long.
- Who gives the strength?The Lord. We renew our strength through Him, not only through ourselves.

- What does 'graven' mean?Carved or written permanently, like engraving on stone or marking on skin.
- Why is the palm of the hand a good place for a name?You see your palms often. God always sees us and remembers us.
- How does it feel to know God will never forget you?Let children answer. Safe, loved, less alone, or more brave.
Eagle wings and remembered names
optionalHave each child write their name on their paper wings.
On the back, have them write one way they will wait on the Lord this week: pray each morning, read one scripture, or ask for help when tired.
Let them wear the wings for a minute and flap slowly, then share one promise from Isaiah 40:31 they like best.
